Museum Field Trip

We went on a field trip today with some of our friends that are new to homeschooling.

First we viewed the snakes.  Arianna and Ryan brought their camera so these are their pictures.

This goofy preying mantis was facing backwards on the plant.  He looked like he was in a hold up.

Last we visited the Discovery Room (my fave place in the museum).DSC_0006

Nature Field Trip

We went with some friends went today to Clemmons Educational State Forest.  We enjoyed learning about different kinds of trees and spending time in God’s creation.  I unfortunately couldn’t find the kids nature journals so we went out without them. However, we brought home lots of stuff to draw and do crafts with.    We took along a Tree Identification Guide to help with id.  It also helped that the trees talked to tell us about themselves:)  We learned lots of interesting information! Homeschooling at All Hours

DSC_0004

We got home late Saturday Night (10pm) from attending a baby shower in Greenville.  Arianna found a cool bug on the back porch and we spent the next hour making a home, observing, sketching and researching the bugs.  When we went out back to get some leaves for him to eat, we found another one.  Ari named them Collard and Greens.  Turns out that they are male Katydids.  We have enjoyed listening to them each night.  We were hoping that one would be female so we could possibly have baby katydids in the spring but we haven’t caught a female yet.

As soon as we got them in a jar, Arianna said, “I am going to run and get my colored pencils so I can draw the bugs.”  She drew it with it licking one of his feet.  The original jar we put him in was a peanut butter container and every step he took he would lick his feet which made us laugh.   DSC_0002 DSC_0003 (2)

Favorite Times

These are common things in our house…wrestling, sword fights, dressing up.  The kids love to wrestle and play with Daddy.  They are frequently heard chanting…”Daddy wrestle with me”.

Look Who’s Walking

We went to visit Daddy.  He called the kids to him and said, “You know how you pray for me every night, I wanted to show you how God is answering your prayers.”  (This is big since Daddy isn’t even sure he believes in God.)  He then asked Ari to hold his left hand and he walked all the way around the porch.  It was very exciting!   008 009
