Hillridge Farm Field Trip

State Fair

We took our annual trip to the State Fair on Tuesday.  We go every year to celebrate Chris and my first date which was to the fair in 1995.

The theme this year is “Whole Lotta Happy”.  I thought Ryan’s face really did this justice…he had a rough day in general but in this picture he was upset because he wanted ice cream.  Despite his the sad face, we all really had a good time.

There favorite thing was the rides.  They wanted to ride everything.  NC State Fair 2010 013NC State Fair 2010 021 NC State Fair 2010 023 NC State Fair 2010 027 NC State Fair 2010 028 NC State Fair 2010 030 NC State Fair 2010 040

They even rode this fast ride that went forward and backward.  Arianna rode the alien space ship that you go inside and it spins around so fast that you are raised off the floor.

Adorable Dogs and Husband Too

I love that my husband loves animals too!  There are few others in the world who would have five dogs.  Granted I would have a zoo if given the choice but none-the-less I am grateful for my husband!DSC_0090

Girl Scout Field Trip

Ari had her first field trip with the her Daisy Troop Yesterday.  They went to Smith’s Nursery.

Above they are saying the Girl Scout Pledge.  DSC_0008

They learned about old farm equipment.  DSC_0009

They then took a hayride and enjoyed singing songs together. DSC_0011 DSC_0016

We fed the goats and donkey. DSC_0027 DSC_0028

This goat is named Uni.

We went through a maze and got lost.  We were the last group through.  DSC_0037 DSC_0045

We finally found our way out!  :)DSC_0048

Ari picked out a strawberry shaped pumpkin. DSC_0054 DSC_0056 DSC_0060

We learned about Indian artifacts that they have found on the farm.  DSC_0062 DSC_0065 DSC_0069

Of course Ari found an animal to pet. DSC_0070   DSC_0082

This picture is from before one of Ari’s troop meetings.  We are looking forward to her Investiture next Monday.  She will say the pledge, sing some songs, and get her first pin as well as part of her Daisy.

Hawk Sightings

We have these two hawks that hang out around our house.  Chris caught them on camera the other day.

Noah’s Landing Field Trip

We went on a field trip to a farm/zoo on Friday.  I loved the place (the kids enjoyed it too:)  We got to interact with the animals on an intimate level and also learned interesting facts about each animal.

The kids enjoyed feeding carrots to the donkeys, llama and Zebra.DSC_0125 DSC_0126 DSC_0128

I think this donkey is where they got the concept for Donkey on Shrek.  He was so funny to me!DSC_0139 DSC_0154 DSC_0159 DSC_0160

This was Cockatoo that could sing Old McDonald.

I can’t remember the name of this little guy but he was adorable.  DSC_0169

Hedge Hog

Ari’s favorite animal:  AlligatorDSC_0199

This little guy was amazing.  His tail looks like his head and he walks backwards with his tail up to confuse predators.  If they grab his tail then it disconnects and he can grow a new one within one month.  DSC_0200 DSC_0201

Ball Python

Ryan and the Wilbur:  the pig.  Ryan kissed the pig but I missed the picture.

We had a great time at Noah’s Landing.  We are hoping to volunteer there in the near future!  They have a Jr. Zookeepers program.
