Legos, Legos, and more Legos

My kids have a new obsession…Legos.   DSC_0058   DSC_0066  DSC_0069

Thanks Yaya for the Darth Vader lego set…Ryan is so excited to have this set!  He has been all into Star Wars lately.  He got this set yesterday from Yaya and today he looked through the book that came with it and he said sweetly, “Mommy I want this one…can we go get it today?”  He wants all of the different Star Wars lego sets…but boy are they expensive!

Arianna got an Indiana Jones Lego set for completing her 50th Reading Lesson.  Great Job Arianna…you have come such a long way in reading!

They have spent the last hour playing together with the legos.  (No, Ari hasn’t brushed her hair in 2 weeks :) JK

Police Field Trip and Park Play

We had a field trip with our church homeschooling group yesterday.  Mr. Gary is one of our church elders and is also a policeman.  He met with our kids to discuss safety and general information about police.  We got to see his car, listen to his loud siren and learn about his uniform.  The first question Mr. Gary asked was “What does a policeman do”.  Ryan promptly raised his hand and said…”Put bad guys in jail”.  Mr. Gary talked about his other roles as a police officer.

Ryan said he learned that he should never touch a gun and Ari said that she learned that she should move over to the right side of the road when a police car has it’s sirens on.

After Mr. Gary’s visit, we enjoyed a beautiful day together at the park.

What am I going to do when my kids realize they can climb up this high in a tree like Gabe?

My Maze King

DSC_0032

Ryan loves Mazes.  He isn’t very interested in drawing, writing or at all using a pencil except when it comes to mazes. I figure it is one way for him to develop his fine motor skills.

This morning while Ari was doing her disciplined studies, I gave Ryan a page out of a new Maze book.  He kept asking if he could do another one…when it was all said and done, he had completed 48 pages of mazes.  He is over half way through the book.   I guess it is a good thing that I bought another Maze book over the weekend:)

He also did a great job drawing a chicken this morning…we read a poem about a chicken and then drew a picture.

My Little Musketeer

DSC_0002

Arianna wants to be a musketeer!!  She loves Barbie’s new movie  The Three Musketeers! Being a musketeer, combines the two sides of my dear daughter…the prissy, dress wearing, high-heeled loving girl with the wild, rough and tumble, play-in-the dirt tomboy.

She has decided to be a musketeer for Halloween.  We went and picked out material for her cape this past weekend.  So I get to do my first real sewing project that will actually get worn…Scary!!

Ari wants to take her sword everywhere with her.   She wanted to take it to ballet tonight.  She cracks me up doing her musketeer moves.
